Diamond gives you up to $10,000 per accepted claim, which is double the individual claim limit of Elite Cover Plus.

Great Cover Without Going Overboard
Elite Cover Plus gives you up to $5,000 per accepted claim with unlimited claims during your cover period, subject to the policy terms and overall limits.
For a lot of customers, this is the sweet spot - solid protection, sensible pricing, and plenty of cover for the majority of unexpected repairs. Each accepted claim is subject to the claim limit shown on your policy certificate.

What Does It Actually Cover?
Janssen MBI is designed to protect against a wide range of sudden and unforeseen mechanical and electrical failures.
Depending on the vehicle and policy, this can include things like:
- Engine & transmission
- Check Engine lights
- Electrical systems
- Factory-fitted audio and electronics
- A/C systems
- Air suspension, compressors and lines
- Airbag-related sensors
- Lambda and O2 sensors
- Knock sensors
- Other factory-fitted sensors and mechanical components
So it’s not just for a completely blown engine.
All cars have heaps of sensors, electronics and systems that can be expensive when they decide to have a bad day.
The policy is designed for unexpected breakdowns rather than routine servicing, maintenance or gradual wear and tear.
24/7 Roadside Assistance Included
This is one of the bits we really like!
All Janssen MBI options include Roadside Assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with unlimited call-outs per year, limited to one call-out per event.
That can include:
- Flat battery jump starts
- Locked keys assistance
- Flat tyre assistance
- Emergency fuel
- Breakdown towing
- Phone support
So even if it’s not some massive mechanical disaster and you’ve simply left the lights on overnight or locked the keys in the car, there’s still help available.
If the vehicle breaks down and can’t be driven, roadside assistance can also arrange transport to the nearest repairer or secure storage location.
Customer Care Benefits
If you do end up with an accepted claim, eligible policies can also provide up to $2,000 in total Customer Care benefits, where shown on your policy certificate.
That can help with things like:
- Rental vehicle costs
- Additional towing
- Accommodation if an eligible breakdown happens away from home
- Vehicle finance payments if authorised repairs take longer than 30 days
Because having a broken car is annoying enough without everything else around it becoming a headache too.

What Isn't Covered?
This is still insurance, not a magic wand.
Mechanical Breakdown Insurance is designed for unexpected failures, not normal servicing or things simply wearing out over time.
Things such as tyres, batteries, routine servicing, worn brake or clutch components, exhaust systems, keys/remotes, cosmetic items, pre-existing faults and normal wear and tear are generally excluded.
The easy way to think about it:
Something suddenly fails = potentially covered.
Something is just worn out = generally not covered.
Selling The Car Later?
Your Janssen MBI policy may be transferred once following a private sale, subject to Janssen’s approval and transfer conditions.
So if you decide to move the car on before the cover runs out, having MBI remaining can also be a nice extra for the next owner.
